Bob's Parable of Heaven
There was a man named Bob, certain of the Lord all the days of his life. When the hour of Judgement came, he stood before the throne of God. He confessed Jesus was lord with gladness. The King of Kings looked at him and said “Well done good and faithful servant. I have prepared a place for you.”
Bob entered the city with walls of calcedony and gates of pearl, and found many singing songs of praise. He too lifted his voice day by day. As he sang one morning, he noticed a small child nearby who reminded Bob of his son. Bob wanted to see his son, to share this joy with him.
Bob searched the throngs, along the golden streets, and asked every saint “Have you seen my Son? Surely, he is here as he was gentle and loved to sing.”
An Angel turned to him and answered. “He is not here. He is beyond the gate, fallen into perdition, where no songs are sung.”
Bob hurried to the gate, and called out with tears. The Angel came and stood by him, counseling. “There is no mourning here, nor remembrance of sorrows, for the former things have passed away.”
So Bob stood a while, and at last the memory of his son faded from him like mist beneath the Morning Star. He returned to the company of the saints, singing as though he had nothing left to lose.
May they with the ears to hear, hear.
- Would you consider Bob's joy real?
- How would you feel in Bob’s place, learning your loved one was lost?
- What have you been told of Heaven?
